Cartoon skin with Gimp’s smudge tool

23 July, 2014 by tatica Leave a Comment

Today’s podcast, more than educative, is to have some fun. This weekend I decided to take a photo with my husband and our dog, and place it on my Facebook and Google+ header and renovate the last pic I had used. I’m sure is not the best picture ever, but sharing a family activity makes everything worthy.

This tutorial, more than showing how to create a picture like this, is to show the power of the smudge tool that GIMP has. This tool is the equivalent to draw with a pencil and then blur it with our fingers. If you have no idea what I’m talking about, just check the video. To create this picture some other techniques were used, and even if they are not explained on this tutorial, will be shown in the next podcast with more fun pictures. Do you have a question or an idea? Remember that you can use the form to request a podcast… and don’t forget to show some love if you like them!
