It’s not a secret that this FUDcon was a challenge, not only because the country we live in, but also because the events we are used to attend are completely different of what this FUDcon was. This probably will be a long post, I will try to not miss anything (and if I do, I will definitely do a second/third/infinite post) ========== Pre-FUDcon ========== Our first location [ Read More ]
Hello pandas! So, as many of you know I have been trying to make something with a Fedora themed bokeh, I don’t know if this technique will be good for a wallpaper but I guess at least would work for a supplemental one. The idea that started everything was this one http://www.flickr.com/photos/tatadbb/7626868336/in/photostream/ And here are some tests (the first ones and some that I did tonight) (is a single link but with several test at comments, so pls check them out… easier on a single link) http://www.flickr.com/photos/tatadbb/7728832276/in/photostream/ Now, here is the thing, I guess we could do something with a subject using the bubbles as background. what do I mean as subject? well check this pic: http://www.flickr.com/photos/tatadbb/7617676764/in/photostream/ I can do [ Read More ]

Ok, so after reading the post about The Dark Side of Geek Feminism and some follow ups, I had some things to say, I tried to have this thoughts as comments but… well, seems that they are better in my own blog :) RPC 2012 Day 01 037 by mchenryarts 1.- I don’t consider myself a feminist because for me, just calling yourself from “any” group creates automatically that line that women are trying to dissolve. If you want people to consider yourself an equal, then you have to be an equal since the beginning. 2.- If you don’t care what men think about how you dress, then why do you care about what women think?… Me?, I don’t dress [ Read More ]
Should you use Tables or Divs? Is is better to use align or float? should I use a background image or color? There is something hiding behind everything in here… do a CSS is a mess! so you have to be really organized. This is not intent to be a CSS how to, is just a quick list of things you might find useful when you’re trying to create one, or at least, trying to force some changes in your html documents. Class and ID NEVER forget the difference between Class and ID… but if you do, don’t freak out, is as easy as change a # for a . .Class #ID Align images everywhere When you’re trying to align [ Read More ]
Here is another one, I wanted to do a selfie, but my back is hurting so much that I couldn’t find a way to lay on the stairs… :( will have to be done some other day. Good thing is that there was a lot of sun, so properties for this pic are: Camera Model: Canon EOS DIGITAL REBEL XS Exposure Time: 1/1500 sec. Aperture Value: 1.53 EV (f/1.8) ISO Speed Rating: 200 Focal Length: 50.0 mm Software: darktable 1.0+1049~g4bac71f
I think there is a lot of people who could find useful some of the editing tips i use on my pictures and I will try to give you a small screenshot with the options I activate so you can try it yourself. I will start with the pic I took a moment ago (and I hope not get sick because of that…). This one didn’t require that much editing, but pushing up some colors and contrast made the difference. If you have any question, just ask! :) If you want to see all the pics from this set so you can see how the same properties affect them all, please, click in here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/tatadbb/7583905002
Before start with some cool techniques with Darktable, I though that would be much better to give an easy overview on how to load your pictures, organize them, do batch operations and work with stack properties. I guess that even if this seems easy, can be tricky sometimes, so every single tip I learn I will try to record it so you can learn too (and since probably I will forget it too, will be a nice video-reminder).
