#TvFriday : The Strain

Guillermo del Toro new serie (Pan’s labyrinth, Devil’s Backbone, and more) is based on a book trilogy written with Chuck Hogan back in 2009 with the same name. Tells the story of Dr. Ephraim Goodweather, an epidemiologist who finds a potential treat when an airplane, with no reason, lands without any kind of communication with the JFK airport (New York). When he gets inside the airplane with his team, he finds out that 209 people have died in an inexplicable way, but 4 have survived. The Strain shows the story on a CSI way but with the spicy terror from Del Toro. Scenarios and scenes are quite interesting as always, and special effects are so pure than for a second you forget that some things are made with computers. I must warn the audience that some images are pretty gore, I wouldn’t recommend you to see this serie with kids near by. The project has been hired for a first season with 13 episodes who started in June (I’m writing this after seeing 2 episodes), despise Del Toro hopes to fulfill 4 or 5 season to cover the trilogy. He hopes to make time to produce personally all episodes of this serie, however, his schedule keeps him on a run. (Pacific Rim 2, Pinocchio, The Ring 3, Kung Fu Panda,)   This is a promising serie has already gain some good reviews and Guillermo del Toro has always know how to satisfy his audience,always seeking that scary suspense that has defined him through all this years. Lets give it a chance and hope that Dr. Eph and his team can fight this ancient dissease that threats all humanity.
