Google reader is gone… now what?

For some time we all know that Google Reader will be discontinued this June 1 (or July) and that has made more than one cry and think about how to read your news conveniently now. Honestly, I have search since the new came out and have been trying several readers, and either a different format or just that I got used to gr, never decide by one. However, it is time to decide and after spending several days trying various solutions I decided to stay with Feedly. Maybe it’s not the best, however, this was the best adapted to what I needed.

feedly feedly

Feedly was at the end, the option that gained my attention. With a fairly entertaining way to show recent articles and an interactive interface to organize your feeds, this is perhaps the best solution. However, it is important to say … to register, first thing they ask is if you want to import your Google Reader feed … Ramen!

For those who read feeds on your phone, feedly also comes with a mobile option, both for iPhone and Android, which I installed to try. I think so far, it is the fastest , lightweight and efficient solution I’ve found on the market. I hope you can find an equivalent that allows you to keep you up to date with all the news that exist in the internet-land.

You could go with http://newsblur.com I’ve been using it for nearly a year now, and it’s been worth every penny. Also, you can grab all of the source from github

    Saludos,

    Hi tatica,

Another hosted alternative to Google reader is TinyTinyRSS (a PHP webapp), you can install it in OpenShift (free account) with one click: https://www.openshift.com/quickstarts/tiny-tiny-rss

Android app is available too (not sure about iOS devices though)
