What is Fedora Videos?

Our contributor Nitesh Narayan Lal came up with an idea to create a serie of videos and give our users an interface to check them on an easier way. We could say that we want to teach fedora through videos… but I’m sure that this project might have bigger goals in a short lapse.

Will be there a guidelines?

Yes, but consider it more like “recommendations”. We want to gather the best videos from the net, created by users and enthusiast, and turn them info Fedora official videos. Yes… we are thinking on give you an intro/outro and some easy tips so our job making translations and sharing can be easier. How can I search though so many Videos?

Yes, But we need your help! We think that use the *Join Fedora categories* might be a good start, but we need more sub-categories. Current Tasks

In our amazing first meeting we start with some task that are currently under development. Tasks so far goes this way:

• Create a guidelines for official videos – bckurera, tatica and Nitesh Guidelines first draft
• Create a guidelines for submit and publish videos – bckurera, tatica and Nitesh Guidelines first draft
• Categorize video sections by interests or teams – Nitesh Sections first draft
• Check privacy, licenses and Ads for each service and Check on HTML5 alternatives who link you to the theora – FranciscoD: Analysis

Now, on a more personal task I’m needing people who have some experience with Video edit and intro creations. I might be able to do a Blender intro but I want to have some experienced hand to have some support and guide. Let me know if you can give us a hand :)

If I have an idea to share, a video to spread or just want to be part of this project, what should I do?

All mayor stuff will be online at our wiki, however, if you can make it to our meetings and share one hour weekly with us will be amazing. We will gather every Thursday at 1530UTC (Check your local time/date here)

En posts anteriores vimos cuales son las medidas estandar para realizar tus banners, tomando en consideración las maquetas que las páginas web usualmente siguen. No obstante, que cumpla con reglas de tamaño no lo es todo. Acá te dejo unos tips que no debes olvidar a la hora de realizar el tuyo:

El mensaje

Es importante que tu banner sea preciso y conciso y que el mensaje llegue eficazmente. Una buena proporción de contenido “real” y contenido “llamativo” puede ser no bajar del 40-60. No importa si tu banner es para difundir un mensaje y no requiera ser enlazado a otra web, si tu banner es para vender un producto, para invitar a la gente a registrarse o simplemente para invitar a visitar un artículo; los banners deben transmitir un mensaje acorde a la atención que quieres captar, acá algunos ejemplos:

Cuidate de parecer Spam

Los banners que permiten interactuar con el usuario son excelentes y no hay forma de negar que son muy interesantes a nivel de código (obvio, adiós flash), pero pueden enviar el mensaje equivocado. Actualmente hay demasiadas formas de spam y los banners y ventanas emergentes son quizás una de las principales amenazas a las que el usuario promedio se enfrenta, y ellos lo saben.

El tamaño si importa

Aquel que dijo que el tamaño no importa tiene que darse una bofetada en este momento. Las mejores webs son aquellas que no sobrecargan el servidor de peticiones con inmensas imagenes y animaciones flash, recuerda que no todo el mundo tiene una veloz conexión a internet y eso es una regla general en nuestro país. Procura utilizar imágenes que no sean muy grandes y que no ocupen muchos Kb. Acá es donde debes considerar que formato deseas, si Gif, Jpg, Png o cualquier otra cosa que se aplique mejor a tu estilo.

Vectorizate!

La premisa del diseño siempre es reutilizar, o al menos quienes diseñamos en Foss así pensamos. Por ello, si estas haciendo una campaña publicitaria, la imagen de tu site o vendiendo un producto; no olvides que si ese banner termina siendo el perfecto gancho para tu campaña, lo querras utilizar en miles de sitios. Es por eso que te recomiendo utilizar aplicaciones vectoriales para realizarlo. En software libre, yo utilizo inkscape, la cual es completamente excelente. Usar vectores te permitirá redimensionar infinitamente tus gráficos sin perder ni un ápice de calidad.

Por mi parte, acá hay unos muy muy muy simples banners de mi website; para mi a veces mientras más minimalista, más claro el mensaje. Obvio, cuando un cliente pide algo espectacular; algo espectacular se le entrega :D

Late but sure… my laptop is still having failures; this is a podcast that some people ask based on my N20 photo of my #365 project I hope you like it and the Graffiti trick be useful :D

To make me happy I just decide to give a logo to this project, taking a simple letters and the amazing icon made by Andrew Fitzsimon and published to free used at OpenClipart, I hope he like it :D and to you, well I hope you like the podcast and the icon to your web-blogs so you can spread this tutorials and let even more people learn :D

En el Podcast de hoy, agregaremos una falsa textura de pared rustica y con mucho color a una fotografía en blanco y negro que considero preciosisima tomada por ashwinrb ya que soy flickradicta. En fin, espero que disfruten estos 5 min de video :D

I owe everyone an apology… but as you know, my laptop is having serious problems with its fan and I can not keepit on more than 10 min; even so, I managed to record a podcast and I hope (not daily but more often) to continue with this project I know that many likes and it has served.

In today’s podcast, I will add a fake rustic and textured wall with lots of color to a black/white photograph that I think is Precious, taken by ashwinrb since I am huge flickradict . Anyway, I hope you enjoy this 5 min video :D

NOTA: Esto procura hacerlo en un sitio sin polvo, suciedad o humedad… recuerda que estas exponiendo tu reflex.

Así luce una fotografía con el lente en posición normal (montado) a 80mm

Luego de tomar una foto de “referencia”, desmonten su lente e inviertanlo…

yo comencé probando cada distancia focal con el máximo enfoque posible… Veamos como luce con cada uno:

80mm invertido

50mm invertido

28mm invertido

Resultado… super divertido!!! pero requiere de muchísimo pulso (si miran de cerca la última foto verán porque lo digo) pero vale la pena el intento :D
